Chimney Sweep in Elburn, ILChimney Sweep for Elburn, IL
Elburn runs on a commuter schedule — the Metra station is the western end of the Union Pacific West Line — so being open seven days a week matters here. United Chimney Sweepers can meet you on a weekend when a weekday is out of the question, from the old depot core to the newer subdivisions.
A commuter town, served seven days a week
Elburn began in 1854 as the railroad stop “Blackberry Station” and incorporated as Elburn in 1886, but its recent growth traces to 2006, when Metra service returned and made the depot a commuter terminus. That brought new subdivisions and busy households whose weekdays are spoken for. Because we are open every day until 9:30 at night, we can fit a chimney visit around the train schedule — evenings and weekends included. Whether you need a chimney sweep or a full inspection, we work around your week rather than the other way around.
Old depot homes and new commuter homes
Elburn’s housing splits neatly. Around the Main Street historic district and Lions Park, you find older masonry chimneys that need their crowns and mortar watched. In the subdivisions that filled in after Metra returned — out toward Prairie Park and beyond — prefab metal fireplaces and gas units are common. Our chimney inspection reads whichever kind you have and tells you plainly what it needs. We work to the NFPA 211 standard and never invent problems.
Gas fireplaces for newer households
Many of Elburn’s newer homes have gas fireplaces, and these are not maintenance-free. Our gas fireplace service cleans the burner and pilot, confirms the gas valve and connection are sound, and checks that the venting safely carries combustion gases out of the house. That venting check is the part that protects your family. United Chimney Sweepers is family-owned by Michael and Mark Lloyd, bonded and insured, and voted Best Company in Illinois in 2021.

Elburn chimney questions
I commute and only have weekends free. Can you come then?
Yes. We are open seven days a week, 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM, specifically so that busy households — and Elburn has plenty of commuters — do not have to take a weekday off for a chimney visit. We can schedule a Saturday or Sunday appointment, or an evening after the train gets in. Just tell us what works when you call, and we will find a slot that fits around your commute rather than disrupting it.
My subdivision home has a gas fireplace. What does servicing it involve?
We clean the burner and pilot assembly, reposition the logs or embers if they have shifted, confirm the gas valve and connections are sound, and verify the venting carries combustion gases safely out of the home. Gas fireplaces look low-maintenance, but dust, spiders, and shifting components can affect how they burn, and a venting problem is a carbon-monoxide concern. An annual service keeps the unit running cleanly and, most importantly, safely.
Are newer Elburn homes less likely to have chimney problems?
Newer does not mean problem-free. The prefab metal systems in Elburn’s post-2006 subdivisions still collect creosote when you burn wood, and their chase covers, gaskets, and caps wear and can let water in. Gas units need their venting kept clear. The issues are simply different from those of old masonry — not absent. A yearly inspection catches them early on a modern system just as it does on a century-old one.
Do you serve Elburn and the surrounding villages?
Yes. Elburn is part of our regular service area, and we also reach the smaller communities around it in western Kane County. We are based in Yorkville and travel out this way often. Being open every day makes scheduling easy for a commuter town. Call us and we will arrange a sweep, inspection, or gas fireplace service at a time that suits you.
