Meet Michael Lloyd, owner of United Chimney Sweepers

Michael Lloyd was born and raised right here in the Fox Valley, and at 53 he’s spent more than three decades learning chimneys from the firebox up. Today he’s the owner, founder, and CEO of United Chimney Sweepers, and he still climbs onto roofs alongside the crew — because he believes the person who runs the company should know exactly what every customer is paying for. Over the years he and his brother have cleaned, inspected, and rebuilt chimneys across Yorkville and the surrounding towns, one honest job at a time.

Two brothers, one family business

United Chimney Sweepers is truly family-owned. Michael’s brother, Mark Lloyd, is his partner in the business, and the two of them have well over 30 years of combined experience in the trade. When you call, you’re not getting a dispatcher and a rotating cast of subcontractors — you’re getting Michael, Mark, and a crew that treats your home the way they’d treat their own mother’s.

Why Michael built the company this way

After years in the trade, Michael had seen too many homeowners handed vague quotes, pushed into repairs they didn’t need, or left with soot on the carpet. He built United Chimney Sweepers to do the opposite. That means a price quoted before the work starts, a straight answer about what’s urgent and what can wait, and drop cloths and a HEPA vacuum on every visit. Most of our work comes by word of mouth — neighbors telling neighbors — which is the only kind of growth that lasts when it’s built on trust.

When Michael isn’t on a roof, he’s home with Janet, his wife of 25 years, and their children. Family is the whole reason the work matters to him: a clean, safe chimney is really about keeping other families warm through an Illinois winter without worry. Helping his neighbors do that — the retired couple in Oswego, the young family in Plano, the homeowner in Sugar Grove with their first fireplace — is the part of the job he loves most.
